Things to do this coming half term..

May 19, 2011

May half term is nearly upon us.  Parents are bracing themselves for the usual words “I’m bored”.  So what can you do to keep the little mites happy?  Well if you live in or around London there is plenty to do.

The doctor who experience at Olympia is great for fans wanting to get up close and personal with monsters, spaceships and even the doctor himself.

The Age of the Dinosaur exhibition London event at Natural History Museum invites you and your children to discover their natural habitat. The exhibition has a huge collection of gigantic skeletons and fossilized remains which kids will love. Dinosaurs Unleashed at The 02 in London is another great exhibition for dinosaur fans.

Another idea for a day out in London is the Wetland Centre.  Over the half term there will be plenty of hands on activities and demonstrations about different wildlife.

The London Science Museum has launched a unique new project as a part of their Climate Changing programme. The project, called ‘A Cockroach Tour of the Science Museum’ is a participatory event by art group Superflex, which invites participants to take on the form of cockroaches.

Visitors to the Science Museum will be able to dress up in realistic cockroach costumes to begin a journey through the Museum, exploring the impact on the climate of scientific and technological developments from the perspective of one of the oldest, most resilient life forms on the planet.

The humorous tour will take visitors through the Museum’s Energy Hall, Exploring Space and Making the Modern World galleries before completing their journey in the atmosphere gallery. The tour has been created by Superflex, a group of artists and designers whose work aims both to highlight global issues and to suggest and generate alternative ideas and solutions.
